Who cares why she was blocked from Facebook. What I want to know is:

Who in their right mind would name their child Yoda in the first place?!

Hiroko Yoda says she made several attempts to sign up to the popular social networking site but her applications were always met with an error message.

The Japanese author suspected that her distinctive surname – which she shares with the wise, green Jedi Master of the Star Wars film series – may be at the root of her problem.

Her suspicions were confirmed when her attempts to sign up using other anglicised versions of her surname, including Youda and Yohda, proved successful.

After contacting Facebook she claims she was told that Yoda had been placed on a name blacklist because so many members pretended to be the fictional three-fingered seer. The website only allows people to join under their real names. <MORE>

Great Taste, New Name!

Microsoft's Online Advertising Efforts

This reminds me of a blind taste test gone bad–really, really bad. What were they thinking?

Microsoft’s most recent “Mojave Experiment” reveals that most people have negative perceptions about Microsoft’s latest OS–Windows Vista–even if they’ve never actually used it.

Microsoft sat 120 people in front of a video demo of what they were told was the forthcoming “Mojave” operating system.

So what did they think of it?

They LOVED it.

Only it wasn’t anything they hadn’t already seen or used before. The video demo they saw was actually that of Windows Vista–it just had a different name.

Wait, what?! Yes, this is a TRUE story. Microsoft challenged all of the Vista haters by calling the OS by another name.

While this was certainly an interesting experiment in social-psychology, I don’t think it’s something a company would want to advertise or brag about.

So here it is, straight from Microsoft: People think our operating system sucks, so we’re changing the name. If you would just try our product (assuming you have the hardware to support it–good luck with that btw), you will love it!
